Mistakes we make; wood choice

At the candy store I see a wood that seemed like a good idea for a project. Jatoba, aka Brazilian Cherry.  Heavy. Looked tough enough to take some abuse. Seemed to have a good grain structure that would like the plane.

It IS heavy. Not sure about the abuse part but I do know about how it likes the plane. IT DOESN'T!!! Murder on a blade.

    I won't do that again~

I did the same thing recently. Since Im in korea I get excited whenever I see wood that is not pale in color. Got some red stuff I could not identify. And yup, cant use it. 3 passes with the plane and the balade is dull.
