Hi new member here. I looked and didn't see an answer for this question so I'll ask it: Where could I get thicker replacement blades for a very old Stanley number 5? I also have a number 4 SB from around the 1940s that I got from eBay and would like thicker blades than the originals. Also, would the newer thick blade be able to fit on the Frog? That would be my only worry of newer, thicker blades.

Woodcraft sells the IBC blades that Rob was involved with the development. I am sure that they have one for the #5. Rob has a video on tuning up and also fitting one of the IBC blades to the  Stanley. I think its called "The Great plane revolution.  Woodcraft also sells the Hock brand blades Both the IBC and the Hock are thicker than the stock Stanley blades.( you can get this at Woodcraft also). I did the mods and installed the IBC blade and chip breaker to a Stanley #5 1/2.  The difference is like night and day. The video walks you through the process step by step.

    Good luck
