Chisel primary bevel

I have several new chisels I have flattened and polished the back on and I am now ready to finish the sharpening process but I wanted to get some thoughts on the primary bevel first. The manufacturers involved use a 25 degree bevel for wider chisels and 30 degrees for narrower chisels with the break point being around 3/8. I seem to recall in one of Rob's classes he wasn't particularly impressed with this practice so my question is would be better to change the primary bevel on the narrower chisels to 25 degrees (these are not mortise chisels) like the wider ones or does it really matter.

    Thanks

    Rick

Hi Rick, I change mine.  No reason to have the narrower chisels at 30.  Grind them back to 25 and be happy!  If I had had my way they would have been all at 25.  cheers
